To upgrade HTML Guardian Personal edition version 6.5.5 or higher to the latest version, you may download only this file and extract it in the program's installation folder ( most likely C:\Program Files\HTML Guardian\ ) . Select to overwrite the existing files when prompted.
Indeed, the program should be closed before updating it.
Please do not use this file to upgrade the Professional or Enterprise editions of the program - only use the auto-update feature to upgrade them (click 'Update' menu --> 'Check for updates' and follow the instructions).

If you have problems downloading HTML Guardian from the above link, you can also download it from several other sites.
Note, however, that you may not get the latest version from these sites.

In some very rare cases you may have problems installing HTML Guardian 6, such as error messages during the install process, or continuous prompts to reboot your system in order to update system files ( on some systems you may be prompted to reboot once and run the installation again - this is normal ) .

Note that the latest versions of the help file and the DreamWeaver add-on are included in the HTML Guardian 7 setup, you don't have to download them separately if you download and install the setup.

HTML Guardian Personal edition is completely free for personal use, and has all the features of the Professional and Enterprise editions.
The only major difference is that it puts a small watermark in each encrypted file. Image Guardian functionality is limited, but adequate for testing purposes. Also the HTML Guardian Auto - Update Utility is only available in the Professional and Enterprise editions.

The Personal edition does not have a time limit or any other usage limitations - you can test it as long as you wish, and encrypt an unlimited number of files with it.
